Willow’s Fourth of July
Willow the Fox loved summer—especially the part with parades, fireworks, and really good snacks.
On the morning of the Fourth of July, she picked out her best outfit: denim jacket (cool), comfy shorts (cooler), and a red-white-and-blue printed t-shirt (coolest). She grabbed a flag, hopped on her bike, and rolled off toward the big picnic in the meadow.
When she arrived, Rabbit was already guarding the potato salad like it was treasure. Frog was setting up lawn chairs in exact rows, and Raccoon had somehow gotten barbecue sauce on his ears. Willow just laughed and headed straight for the ice cream stand.
She picked a giant cone—vanilla with red and blue sprinkles—and licked it carefully as she walked through the meadow, waving to friends and dodging frisbees. The sun was shining, music was playing, and everything smelled like grilled corn and watermelon.
As the sky turned golden and the stars began to twinkle, Willow stretched out on a blanket with her crew. The first firework popped! in the sky, lighting up the trees in sparkling colors.
Willow smiled, her tail flicking happily. “Best holiday ever,” she whispered between bites of ice cream.
And honestly? She wasn’t wrong.
